We want change!

No! If you are thinking this is about some protest to bring in change in the current system, that is totally wrong. The change here is money (ಚಿಲ್ಲರೆ ). From last 7 months I have been travelling from Kundalahalli Gate towards ITPL. Everyday I see conductor fighting with passengers for not giving change. The problem is few of the coins are in coin phone or weighing machine and most in the temple's hundi. For first two days I struggled with change problem as I was new to this and did not know how to manage, so I decided to buy monthly pass on the third day. I slowly started observing how people managed and soon started learning new tricks and also discovered few tricks which I will be sharing later. There are few instances when conductor told passenger to get down as he/she did not bring change. In this advanced world why not BMTC come up with some travel card(just like BMRCL metro card) which can be swiped. Hope we can see something like this by the year 2020.

Some tricks:

  1. Always it is easier to get change in the evening as the conductor will have sufficient change by that time. So, try to get the change the previous evening.
  2. From my experience if you speak in kannada you have more probability of getting change. Make sad face and "ಚೇಂಜ್ ಇಲ್ಲ ಸಾರ್ " :-D .
  3. If the fare is Rs 15, 25 ,35 etc. Always give Rs105 or Rs505. That 5Rs that you give tempts the conductor to give you change.
  4. Wait till someone gives change and take ticket right after it so that you get before it goes into his pocket ;-)
